Ridgewatch
Terms of Membership
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Please read these terms before you join. The key membership terms are also summarised on our plans page.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your Ridgewatch membership. Your contract is with Embrace Your Chaos (“EYC”, “we”, “us”).
Embrace Your Chaos is a trading name of Tomas McGinn.
WhatsApp: 07412 757620
Email: hello@ridgewatch.embraceyourchaos.co.uk
What Ridgewatch is, and isn’t. Ridgewatch is planned roof maintenance: regular checks, an annual gutter clean and small repairs done early. It is a service, not a financial product. It doesn’t promise that your roof will never leak or be damaged, and it doesn’t pay for damage to your home or belongings, except where section 17 says we are responsible.
2. Your membership
There is one Ridgewatch membership. Every member receives:
- an annual gutter clean;
- an annual roof condition report and certificate;
- one scheduled visit and one urgent visit each membership year, with no call-out fee;
- a repair allowance of up to £150 each membership year on your emergency call-out (“repair allowance”, section 9);
- a roofing team from our trade partner, RooFix Solutions Ltd, booked for members.
All included work is ladder work from the ground. Scaffolding, access towers, cherry pickers and other access equipment aren’t included, unless your bespoke package says they are. If a job needs them, we’ll tell you and quote for it separately before anything goes ahead. Your £150 repair allowance can still come off the repair labour and materials in that quote, but never off the cost of the access equipment.
Three-storey homes must be reachable by ladder. The three-storey price is only for homes where all the included work can be reached safely from our ladders. Some older three-storey houses need a specialist ladder or other access equipment, so our roofer confirms access at your first visit. If any of the included work can’t be reached safely from our ladders, we move you to a bespoke package instead. We quote you a bespoke monthly price that includes the access equipment your home needs, and we take no further payments while you decide. Nothing changes unless you accept the quote in writing. If you turn down the bespoke quote, or don’t reply within 60 days of receiving it, your membership ends with nothing more to pay. We keep your first monthly payment to pay for the inspection, and the early-cancellation charge doesn’t apply. (section 15)
Each membership relates to one property.
3. Price, your type of home and price changes
Your monthly price depends on your type of home, how many storeys it has, and whether you are a homeowner or a landlord:
| Type of home | Homeowner (a month) | Landlord (a month) |
|---|---|---|
| Attached (up to two storeys) | £24.99 | £29.99 |
| Semi-detached (up to two storeys) | £34.99 | £39.99 |
| Detached (up to two storeys) | £44.99 | £49.99 |
| Three-storey home (any attached, semi-detached or detached house with three storeys) | £54.99 | £59.99 |
| Bespoke (more than three storeys, including large mansion-style homes, warehouses and commercial buildings) | Priced after a survey | Priced after a survey |
For a bespoke membership, we survey the building and confirm your monthly price in writing before you join.
Checking your type of home. You tell us your type of home and how many storeys it has when you join, and our roofer checks this at your first visit. If it’s different, we’ll tell you the correct monthly price before anything changes. You can then move to the correct price from your next payment, or end your membership without an early-cancellation charge.
There is no setup fee. Your first monthly payment covers setting up your membership. Using your call-outs or repair allowance doesn’t change your monthly price.
Price changes. We may change your monthly price by emailing you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. We’ll tell you the new price and when it starts. If you don’t want to accept it, you can end your membership before the new price starts, with no early-cancellation charge. We’ll also confirm your price before each renewal.
4. Term and automatic renewal
Your membership has a 24-month term. It starts on the day you join. If your membership is put on hold at your first visit because your roof doesn’t meet our minimum standard, your 24 months run from the date it resumes instead (section 15). Your membership runs for 24 months, then renews for another 24 months unless you stop it. We’ll email you two reminders before it renews: the first at least 60 days before and the second at least 30 days before. Each one gives the renewal date, the price for the new term and how to cancel. You can stop it renewing at any time before the renewal date by emailing hello@ridgewatch.embraceyourchaos.co.uk. Your membership then ends on the renewal date with nothing more to pay. If it renews and you change your mind, you can cancel within 14 days of the renewal date, or of receiving your reminder if that’s later. We’ll refund what you’ve paid for the new term, less a proportionate amount for any service you’ve had since it renewed (worked out against everything the new 24-month term includes), and the early-cancellation charge doesn’t apply. After that, the new 24-month term works the same way as your first. We’ll also email you a short membership reminder at least every 6 months, with your monthly payment and how to cancel.
5. 14-day cooling-off period
You can cancel within 14 days of the day you join, for any reason, by emailing hello@ridgewatch.embraceyourchaos.co.uk. You don’t need to give a reason.
We book your first visit for after your 14-day cooling-off period. If you’d like it sooner, just ask. If we carry out a visit at your request and you then cancel within the 14 days, you pay an amount in proportion to the service we’ve provided up to the time you tell us, compared with everything your full 24-month membership includes. The early-cancellation charge doesn’t apply.
- If we haven’t carried out any visits, we refund everything you’ve paid.
- If you asked for an earlier visit and we’ve carried it out, we take off that proportionate amount and refund the rest.
- The early-cancellation charge in section 6 does not apply during the cooling-off period.
We refund you within 14 days of you telling us, using the payment method you used.
If you want a visit within the 14 days, we’ll ask you to confirm that request in writing, and that you understand you’ll pay for the service provided if you then cancel. Your first monthly payment is refunded in full if you cancel within 14 days and we haven’t visited.
You also have 14 days to change your mind after each renewal (section 4).
6. Cancelling after the cooling-off period
You can end your membership at any time by emailing hello@ridgewatch.embraceyourchaos.co.uk. It ends on the day you tell us. Stopping your card payments doesn’t end your membership, so please tell us.
If you end it before the end of your 24-month term, an early-cancellation charge may apply. It’s there to pay back the value of the work you’ve already received at a reduced member price, not to penalise you. We work it out like this:
- We add up our standard non-member prices for the gutter cleans, roof condition reports and repairs from your repair allowance you’ve received during your current term (not work you paid for separately): gutter clean £10 per metre; roof condition report £350 each; repair £150 each.
- We take off the monthly payments you’ve made during your current term.
- If there’s an amount left, that’s the early-cancellation charge. If your payments already add up to more, there’s nothing extra to pay.
- The charge is never more than the monthly payments left in your current term. So ending early never costs more than staying to the end.
We’ll send you the calculation in writing.
Call-outs are not counted in the early-cancellation charge.
Example only: a semi-detached homeowner membership at £34.99 a month, cancelled in month 10, after one roof condition report (£350), one 20-metre gutter clean (£200) and one repair (£150). Standard prices: £700. Payments made: 10 × £34.99 = £349.90. Early-cancellation charge: £350.10 (less than the 14 payments left, £489.86, so the cap doesn’t change it).
There’s no early-cancellation charge if you end your membership because of a price change or a change to these terms (sections 3 and 16), because your type of home turned out to be different (section 3), because your roof didn’t meet our minimum standard (section 15), because your three-storey home can’t be reached safely by ladder and you turned down the bespoke quote (section 15), or because we haven’t done what these terms say.
7. Who carries out the work
Ridgewatch is a service from Embrace Your Chaos, which works with partner trade businesses to deliver it. RooFix Solutions Ltd, an Embrace Your Chaos client, is our partner roofing company and carries out the roof work. Your contract is with us, not with RooFix Solutions. We are responsible to you for the work RooFix Solutions carries out under your membership, in the same way as if we had done it ourselves. If RooFix Solutions can’t carry out a job, we may use another suitably qualified roofing contractor and will tell you if we do.
8. Visits and response targets
- Urgent repairs mean water is coming into the property and you need someone there. Our target is to attend within 48 hours for homeowner memberships and 24 hours for landlord memberships.
- How to request an urgent repair. To report an urgent repair, sign in to the Ridgewatch Members community using the link in your welcome email (sent with your receipt), open the pinned Book a visit or urgent repair post and choose the Urgent repair diary. It’s open every day, 8am to 6pm. If anyone is in danger, call 999. Only members can open this diary, so every booking in it comes from a verified member. It’s kept separate from our ordinary customer bookings, which is how we give members priority.
- Non-urgent visits: our target is within one week.
- Booking a visit. To book a visit, sign in to the Ridgewatch Members community using the link in your welcome email (sent with your receipt), open the pinned Book a visit or urgent repair post and choose the Book a visit diary. It’s open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Booked visits are in one-hour slots, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with at least 48 hours’ notice.
- Waiting period. There’s a 30-day wait from the day you join before urgent repairs apply. Routine visits aren’t affected. If your membership is on hold because your roof doesn’t meet our minimum standard, urgent repairs don’t apply until it resumes.
These are targets, not guarantees. We may not be able to meet them in severe weather, when it isn’t safe to work at height, or at times of very high demand, such as after a major storm. If we can’t meet a target, we’ll tell you and give you a new time as soon as we can. Where a full repair isn’t safe or possible straight away, our roofer may carry out a temporary repair and come back to finish the job.
9. Included visits, repair allowance and yearly limits
Each membership year includes one scheduled maintenance visit and one emergency call-out, with no call-out fee for either. Your emergency call-out comes with a repair allowance of up to £150 a year for minor repairs, such as a broken tile or a loose gutter clip. If the repair costs £150 or less, it’s done free as part of your membership. If it costs more, we take £150 off the bill and tell you the price for the rest before any work starts. The allowance is per membership year and doesn’t roll over. Visits you don’t use don’t roll over, and you can’t use next year’s visits early. Extra visits aren’t included, but we can quote for them.
The allowance is for labour and materials, up to £150 in each membership year, and it applies to the repair on your emergency call-out. Any of it left over doesn’t carry over to another visit or another year. Your membership year starts on the day you join and resets on each anniversary. Work above the allowance is quoted separately and only goes ahead if you agree.
Your gutter clean, roof condition report and included visits are yearly: one gutter clean, one roof condition report, one scheduled visit and one urgent visit in each membership year. Your membership year starts on the day you join and resets on each anniversary. Each year’s gutter clean, report and visits can only be used in that year. They can’t be brought forward from a later year, and anything you don’t use doesn’t roll over.
Each property in a portfolio has its own allowance. If a repair is likely to cost more than your remaining allowance, we’ll tell you before starting and give you a price for the extra. Nothing extra goes ahead without your agreement, and agreed extra work is charged at the price we quoted.
10. What is not included
Your membership doesn’t include:
- Problems that existed before you joined and are found at your first visit. We’ll tell you about them and can quote to fix them.
- Storm or structural damage beyond routine maintenance, such as a collapsed chimney, a lost section of roof or damaged roof timbers. We can quote for this separately.
- Anything involving asbestos.
- Scaffolding, access towers, cherry pickers and any other access equipment, unless your bespoke package says they’re included. All included work is ladder work from the ground. If a job needs access equipment, we quote for it separately first, and the £150 repair allowance can’t be used towards it.
- Full roof replacements or large-scale renewals.
- The part of any repair above the £150 allowance, and any visits beyond your one scheduled and one urgent visit a year. We quote first, and nothing goes ahead without your agreement.
- Damage inside the home, including decoration and contents.
- Work by other trades (Ridgewatch is roof work only).
- Flat roof work beyond routine checks and small repairs within the £150 allowance. Anything larger is quoted first.
- Urgent repairs in the first 30 days of a new membership.
- Any benefits while your membership is on hold because your roof doesn’t meet our minimum standard.
Three-storey homes. The three-storey price doesn’t include any work that can’t be reached safely from our ladders, or a specialist ladder or other access equipment. If your home needs them, we offer a bespoke package instead, quoted to include the access equipment needed (section 15).
11. Access, safety and missed appointments
Please:
- give us safe access to the roof, gutters and any part of the property we need to reach;
- tell us before the visit about anything that affects safety or access, such as known asbestos, fragile roof areas, animals, or parking limits;
- keep the property reasonably safe for our team.
Our roofer may decline or stop work if it isn’t safe to carry on. Landlords are responsible for arranging access with tenants. The landlord gives us the tenant’s name and phone number, and we arrange the visit time with the tenant. Visits are external-only unless agreed beforehand.
Missed appointments. If we can’t get access at a booked visit and you didn’t tell us before the day of the visit, we’ll offer you one new appointment. If we can’t get access at that one either, that visit counts as used for that membership year. There’s no missed-visit fee.
12. Landlord portfolios
Each property is its own membership with its own yearly visits, repair allowance and 24-month term. Where a landlord holds five or more memberships, all their memberships are bundled and 20% is taken off the combined monthly total. The team applies the discount by hand from the fifth membership. It includes three-storey memberships, but not bespoke ones. If the number of memberships drops below five, the discount stops from the next payment, and we give you 30 days’ notice.
13. Payments and missed payments
Monthly payments are taken by card or another method offered at checkout, processed by Stripe, on the same day each month. If a payment fails, we’ll email you to ask you to pay what’s owed, and we may pause visits until it’s paid. If it’s still unpaid 30 days after it first failed, we may end your membership, and section 6 then applies.
14. When we may end your membership
We may end your membership by telling you in writing if:
- you gave us wrong information about the property and don’t accept the correct price;
- the property isn’t safe for us to work on and isn’t made safe;
- we can’t get access despite repeated attempts;
- payments aren’t made (section 13);
- anyone at the property is abusive or threatening towards our team.
Before we end your membership, we’ll tell you why in writing and, where it can be put right, give you a reasonable chance to do so. If we end it because payments aren’t made, because we can’t get access, or because of abusive or threatening behaviour, section 6 applies. If we end it because the property isn’t safe to work on, or because you don’t accept the correct price for your type of home, there’s no early-cancellation charge. If your membership ends because your roof didn’t meet our minimum standard and you didn’t go ahead with the work, section 15 applies instead and there’s no early-cancellation charge. The same applies if your three-storey home can’t be reached safely by ladder and you turn down the bespoke quote. If we end it for any other reason, for example because we stop offering Ridgewatch, there’s no early-cancellation charge. We’ll give you reasonable notice and refund any payment for the time after your membership ends.
15. Minimum roof standard and your first visit
Your roof needs to meet our minimum standard before membership benefits start. Every roof condition report includes a scoring sheet, and your roof must reach our minimum score on it. We assess this at your first visit, and we explain your score, and anything that’s needed, in writing. You can ask us for a copy of the scoring sheet at any time, including before you join.
- You join online and make your first monthly payment.
- A roofer from our trade partner, RooFix Solutions Ltd, inspects your roof at your first visit, booked after your 14-day cooling-off period.
- If your roof doesn’t meet the standard, we put your membership on hold. We don’t take any more payments while it’s on hold, and we send you a written quote for the work needed to bring it up to standard. You can use us for the work, or your own roofer.
- When the work is done, an engineer from our trade partner, RooFix Solutions Ltd, re-inspects your roof. If it meets the standard, your membership resumes and payments restart.
- Your 24-month term starts on the date your membership resumes, not the date you first joined.
While your membership is on hold, membership benefits don’t apply. That includes urgent repairs, the repair allowance and the gutter clean.
If you don’t go ahead. If you turn down the quote, or don’t reply within 60 days of receiving it, your membership ends. We keep your first monthly payment to pay for the inspection, and there’s nothing more to pay. The early-cancellation charge doesn’t apply.
Using your own roofer. You’re welcome to use your own roofer to bring your roof up to our minimum standard. Before your membership resumes, an engineer from our trade partner, RooFix Solutions Ltd, re-inspects the work. The re-inspection is free.
If the re-inspection finds your roof still isn’t up to standard, your membership doesn’t resume. It stays on hold, with no payments taken and no membership benefits, and we tell you the reasons in writing. It resumes only once your roof passes a re-inspection, and your 24-month term runs from that date.
If your roof isn’t brought up to standard within 60 days of our written reasons, your membership ends. We keep your first monthly payment to pay for the inspection, and there’s nothing more to pay. The early-cancellation charge doesn’t apply.
At your first visit we also record a baseline of your roof’s condition. Smaller problems that existed before you joined aren’t included (section 10), but we’ll tell you about them and can quote to fix them.
Three-storey homes: ladder access
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the law or in how we provide Ridgewatch. If a change is to your disadvantage, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. You can then end your membership before the change takes effect, with no early-cancellation charge.
17. Our responsibility to you
We will carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. If we don’t, tell us and we’ll put it right at no cost to you. If we can’t, you may be entitled to a price reduction. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that isn’t foreseeable.
Because Ridgewatch is maintenance, we are not responsible for damage caused by weather, wear and tear, or defects outside our work, including water damage to contents or decoration, unless the damage was caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
Limit. Our total responsibility to you for each membership is limited to the total monthly payments for your current 24-month term. This limit doesn’t apply to physical damage to your home or belongings that we cause through negligence while we’re carrying out work, or to anything listed under “What we never limit” below.
Landlord memberships. Where you hold a membership for a property you let, we are not responsible for lost rent, rent arrears, the cost of alternative accommodation for tenants, or other business losses.
What we never limit. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude. If you’re a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services not carried out with reasonable care and skill; advice is available from Citizens Advice.
18. Complaints
If you’re not happy, please tell us by emailing hello@ridgewatch.embraceyourchaos.co.uk or messaging us on WhatsApp on 07412 757620. We’ll look into it fairly and reply in writing. If we can’t settle your complaint, we’ll tell you in writing and say whether we use an alternative dispute resolution provider. You can get free, independent advice from the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
19. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
