Roof problems don’t book themselves in

Small issues get missed. Gutters overflow. A slipped tile turns into a leak. Ridgewatch is how you stay on top of it, without chasing and without guesswork.

Blocked or cracked gutters and downpipes are a common cause of penetrating damp. Rainwater overflows, runs down the outside wall, soaks into the brickwork and can show up inside as damp patches, blistered plaster and mould.

The Mossy One moves into neglected gutters and holds water like a sponge. Regular visits keep it out.

What you get as a homeowner

  • Annual gutter clean
  • Annual roof condition report and certificate (an MOT-style check)
  • One scheduled and one urgent visit each membership year, with no call-out fee
  • Urgent repairs (water coming in and you need someone there): our target is to be with you within 48 hours (a target, not a guarantee; urgent repairs start 30 days after you join)
  • Non-urgent visits within one week
  • A £150 repair allowance each membership year on your emergency call-out: repairs up to £150 are free, and £150 comes off bigger jobs
  • A roofing team from our trade partner, RooFix Solutions Ltd, booked for members, so you’re not left chasing trades
  • Using your call-outs or repair allowance doesn’t change your price. Any general price change comes with 30 days’ notice, and you can leave free

Small fixes cost less than big repairs

A few slipped tiles

Replacing up to five slipped tiles with easy access typically costs around £170.

If water gets in first, an emergency roofer call-out is typically around £350, and replacing a ceiling £400–£1,000, before redecorating.

Dated records of your roof upkeep

You’ll have a clear record of:

  • Your annual roof check
  • Your gutter clean
  • Any repair work carried out
  • Your yearly certificate

When you sell, that history can help buyers feel confident the roof has been looked after. Which? suggests having your roof inspected every few years and keeping proof that it’s been done.

Every membership is a 24-month rolling term that renews automatically every two years. No setup fee. Cancelling early: if you end your membership before the 24 months are up, you pay the difference between the monthly payments you’ve made and our standard non-member prices for the gutter cleans, roof condition reports and repairs from your repair allowance you’ve already had (not work you paid for separately): gutter clean £10 per metre, roof condition report £350, repair £150 each. If your payments already add up to more, there’s nothing extra to pay. The charge is never more than the monthly payments left in your current term, so ending early never costs more than staying to the end. See how it’s worked out.

Straight talking: what Ridgewatch is

Ridgewatch is a roof maintenance membership with yearly visits and a yearly repair allowance on your emergency call-out. You’re booking a roofing team and a regular routine, not buying paperwork.

It’s there for the upkeep: the gutter clean, the yearly check, the small repairs that keep a roof sound.

Homeowner questions

Is my roof too old for Ridgewatch?
Not necessarily. Age alone doesn’t rule a roof out. Your roof needs to meet our minimum standard before membership benefits start. Every roof condition report includes a scoring sheet, and your roof must reach our minimum score on it. We assess this at your first visit, and we explain your score, and anything that’s needed, in writing. You can ask us for a copy of the scoring sheet at any time, including before you join. If it doesn’t meet the standard, your membership goes on hold with no payments taken, and we quote for the work. If you turn down the quote or don’t reply within 60 days, we keep your first payment to pay for the inspection and there’s nothing more to pay. More detail.
What does the £150 repair allowance mean?
Each membership year includes one scheduled maintenance visit and one emergency call-out, and the emergency call-out comes with up to £150 of repairs a year, for minor repairs such as a broken tile or a loose gutter clip. Repairs up to £150 are free; for bigger jobs, £150 comes off the bill. If a repair is likely to go over, we’ll talk you through the options before any work starts.
How quickly will someone come?
When water is coming in and you need someone there, our target is to be with you within 48 hours. Non-urgent visits are booked within one week.
Can I cancel?
You have 14 days after joining to change your mind. After that, Ridgewatch is a 24-month rolling term; if you cancel early, you pay the difference between the monthly payments you’ve made and our standard non-member prices for the gutter cleans, roof condition reports and repairs from your repair allowance you’ve already had (not work you paid for separately): gutter clean £10 per metre, roof condition report £350, repair £150 each. If your payments already add up to more, there’s nothing extra to pay. The charge is never more than the monthly payments left in your current term, so ending early never costs more than staying to the end.
